A non-exhaustive list of people I like and admire, an old-school blogroll that keeps growing as I remember people. If we know each other and your name isn't here, blame my memory and send me a message so I can fix it.

This is a /friends page, inspired by slashfriends.org and Nick Gray.

People I met

  • Ana Neri, a super talented programmer and community lead, and one of the most determined people I know. If she thinks about doing something, she does it.
  • Erick Wendel, one of my oldest friends and a long-time inspiration. He makes the most of every chance to make his dreams come true, something I have yet to learn.
  • Felipe Trevisan, a once-in-a-lifetime person. A focused developer and a better manager than most I've had, who tells hard truths in a way people understand.
  • Marcelo Pecin, another Tibia friend. We never met in person, but it feels like we have. An amazing developer, persistent and determined on his goals.
  • Oscar Marion, we met through Felipe and clicked right away over too many shared hobbies. I admire how he gets himself heard without hurting anyone's feelings.
  • Ranieri Althoff, a friendship born from the same shitty game, Tibia. One of the people I learn the most with, especially low level stuff too complex for my brain.
  • Raphael Amorim, tells you smart things you only half understand, then comes back with a working compiler, terminal or packer. The most prolific programmer I know.
  • Robin Pokorný, we worked together for a while and I keep coming back to a few of his articles that shaped my thinking.
  • Roz, one of my oldest dev friends, he taught me to think pragmatically about software. Avid OSS contributor and one of the most talented developers I know.
  • William Oliveira, introduced me to tech communities and pushed me to write and do open source. If you are reading this, it's mostly because of him.

People I haven't met, but admire

  • Addy Osmani, I've always admired his writing style, and recently came to like his books on philosophy as well.
  • Axel Rauschmayer, Ph.D, his essays and books inspire me and I read everything he writes. He made me realize I could write about programming and be taken seriously.
  • Cyrus Lopez, extremely insightful essays and good taste in UIs. My blog design is based on his.
  • Lydia Hallie, helped me a lot to visualize how I could make good content.
  • Martin Kleppmann, his book Designing Data-Intensive Applications is one of the best I've read, and he kindly answered all my emails when I tried to write about it.
  • Sean Goedecke, I love his insights on being a software engineer and how he navigates it.
  • Simon Späti, absurd insights and a super interesting site with a second brain, I love the content around it.
  • swyx, helped me a lot setting up my learn in public style.
  • Tanya Reilly, her book The Staff Engineer's Path has been a great inspiration for me since I became a staff engineer.
  • マリウス, hard to find online, but one of the few in my RSS feed. Their blog has it all, from luggage to books to software, and I want that organization someday.
