Description

I bought this because Logi is the only company that makes a vertical mouse for left-handers. I used it for quite a while, until I needed a side scroll and switched to the MX Master 4.

This mouse came out of a medical necessity. There was a time when I was using the computer a lot, mostly for coding. I was on a very important project and I had to keep coding for very long stretches, sometimes 12 or 14 hours in a row. I'm also someone who doesn't like mice as a whole, which is part of why I put Hyprland on my main computer, because I'd rather use only the keyboard whenever that's possible. If I could, the only thing on the computer would be the keyboard and there would be no mice at all. Unfortunately that isn't what we have today, most applications are made for computers that have a mouse, and there are things you can't do from the keyboard.

Around then I started getting very bad tendinitis. I'm left-handed both for writing and for the mouse, although I can use a mouse with either hand without any problem, and I had very strong pain in my left hand and my left wrist, so I started looking for alternatives that would turn this into a better experience.

I bought a lot of other mice along the way, including two Kensington trackballs. The first one I bought was the static one, the one shaped like a normal mouse, and I never got used to it, because it was very hard to use. It sort of looks like a normal mouse but it also isn't one, so it felt strange. Then I bought the Expert Mouse and I adapted to that a bit better and used it more, but I never really adapted to a trackball.

After that I went looking for vertical mice for left-handers and I didn't find any. The only thing I found was a generic left-handed mouse, very similar to the Lift, which at the time only existed for right-handers. With these, the handedness really does matter, because a left-handed and a right-handed mouse are mirrored, so I can't use one as the other, it isn't an ambidextrous mouse. I bought two or three of those generic ones and all of them broke in less than four months, so I decided not to buy any more. I used the bigger trackball for a long time, until a friend told me Logitech had released a left-handed version of the Lift. I looked it up and they had, though it isn't as advanced as the right-handed version, which has a lot more buttons and other things. It was enough for me, I don't use much more than that.

Impressions

I used this mouse for a long, long time, until I decided I could go back to a right-handed mouse with more features, which in this case was the MX.

It's a very good mouse. It's a little strange, because being a left-handed mouse the buttons are mirrored. Since I always used right-handed mice in my left hand, I always clicked with the left button the way right-handers do, so my click was under my middle finger. On a left-handed mouse the primary click, same as on a right-handed one, is under the index finger. So I always had to swap the buttons around to click. Most of the time the operating system has a setting for that, but on some of them I didn't have it, so I had to configure it with external programs.

Final thoughts

I recommend buying it only if you actually have wrist problems or tendinitis, because it really did improve mine a lot, I never had it again after this. It's very good, but it's simple, there isn't much to it. So it's a pretty ok mouse.
